Everything you might want to know
The questions we get asked most, all in one place. If you can’t find what you’re after, just get in touch and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Getting Started
What do I need to provide to get my site started?
Not much. Just your contact details, a list of what you do, and a few photos if you have them. We’ll write and structure everything else. If you don’t have photos yet, that’s fine too, we can work with what you’ve got. You can get started any time using our onboarding form (opens in a new tab).
Do I need a website already?
No. If you don’t already have one, we can build you a mobile friendly, one-page website from scratch as part of your Catchlio package. Plenty of our customers start with nothing more than a Google listing. If you already have a website, we’re happy to review it and suggest improvements, but we can only maintain it going forward if it’s moved onto our service.
Do you work with my trade?
Yes. We work with local trades and small businesses, including plumbers (opens in a new tab), electricians (opens in a new tab), builders (opens in a new tab), roofers (opens in a new tab), painters and decorators (opens in a new tab), landscapers (opens in a new tab), gardeners (opens in a new tab), cleaners (opens in a new tab), garages and mechanics (opens in a new tab), hair and beauty salons (opens in a new tab), joiners and carpenters (opens in a new tab), plasterers (opens in a new tab), locksmiths (opens in a new tab), handymen (opens in a new tab), window cleaners (opens in a new tab), tattoo studios, dog groomers, personal trainers, driving instructors, photographers, tree surgeons, pest control, removals firms, cafés, florists, shops and small practices, plus many more. You can see them all on our Who We Work With (opens in a new tab) page, or get in touch (opens in a new tab) to see how we can help you. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so.
Do you offer a free audit?
Yes. Our free local visibility audit looks at how your business shows up on Google, your website, your listings and your reviews, then tells you in plain English what we’d fix first. There’s no obligation. You can request your free audit (opens in a new tab) any time.
I’m a very small business. Is Catchlio actually for me?
Yes. In fact, that’s the point. Catchlio is designed for sole traders, partnerships and small businesses that need a decent online presence without paying big-agency prices or learning a load of digital marketing jargon.
What’s included in a one-page website?
A professionally built, mobile-friendly website containing the key information customers need about your business. That normally means your services, about your business, contact details, calls to action and any other essential information we agree before the build starts. It’s one page, but it doesn’t have to feel basic.
Can I have more than one page on my website?
Yes, and we’re happy to do it. We’ve built plenty of multi-page websites over the years. Our core packages are built around a one-page site because that’s what most everyday businesses need, at a low cost. If you’d like additional pages, such as a page for each service or a gallery page, just ask us for a quote (opens in a new tab). Once they’re set up, you can use your plan’s monthly update time to keep them up to date, just like the rest of your site.
What if I already have a Google listing?
Great, we will claim or take over management of it, fill in what is missing and keep it updated. You stay the owner throughout.
How long does it take to go live?
It depends on how quickly we get what we need from you, but most one-page sites are built and live within a couple of weeks of you completing our onboarding form (opens in a new tab). Your one-off setup fee covers the build, and we don’t take your first monthly payment until 30 days after your setup fee is paid, so you’re never paying a subscription for a site that isn’t live yet. We’ll always give you a realistic timeframe upfront.
How many revisions do I get on the initial build?
Two rounds of revisions are included as standard once we send you the first preview. Beyond that, further changes are treated the same as any other update request.
Can I see websites you’ve built?
Yes. Where our customers are happy for us to share their sites, we’ll send you links so you can see our work for yourself. Once we have enough sites in our portfolio, we’ll also show them on a page here on our website. We’re proud of the work we do and would love to showcase as many sites as we can. A link from our portfolio to your site is also what’s called a backlink, which can help Google trust your website.
Can you add my online booking system, like Fresha or Booksy?
It depends on whether your booking system works with WordPress. If it does, we can embed it directly on your website. If not, we’ll add a clear button linking to it instead. Let us know what you use and we’ll check before you pay anything.
Can you add my Instagram feed to my website?
Absolutely. It’s one of the best options if you post your work regularly, because your website can show plenty of recent photos without slowing it down. Your feed updates on your site whenever you post, so there’s nothing extra to send us.
Can I show a gallery of my work without slowing my website down?
Yes. Any photos we add directly to your website are resized and saved in WebP, a modern image format, so they stay sharp while loading quickly on phones. If you post a lot of work, linking your Instagram feed is another great way to show more without adding weight to your site.
Getting Found & Reviews
Can you make me show up in multiple nearby towns, or just my home address?
We set your listings up around the towns you actually work in, not just your home address. That way you’re not stuck only showing up on your own doorstep.
What if I don’t have many (or any) Google reviews yet?
No problem. Building reviews up is part of what we do. We set up a simple way for you to ask happy customers for one, so you’re not starting from nothing.
Do you only cover Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire?
No. We mainly work across Staffordshire (including Stoke-on-Trent (opens in a new tab), Newcastle-under-Lyme (opens in a new tab) and Stafford (opens in a new tab)), Derbyshire (including Derby (opens in a new tab)) and Cheshire (including Crewe (opens in a new tab), Nantwich (opens in a new tab) and Macclesfield (opens in a new tab)), because we know how everything works in these three counties, but we can work with businesses anywhere in the UK. We’d just need a bit more information about your local area to help effectively. Get in touch using our Contact Us (opens in a new tab) page and we’ll let you know if we’re a good fit.
Do you update my listings by hand, or use automated software?
We aim to do it by hand. We don’t use automated listing software, and we check and update your Google profile and directory listings ourselves, taking care to get the details right. Occasionally we may use AI tools to help with parts of the work, but a real person is always responsible for the result.
Pricing & Fees
Are there any hidden fees or extra costs for things like website hosting?
No. Hosting, SSL security and domain management are all included in your monthly fee. You won’t get a separate bill for any of that while you’re with us.
Why does my monthly fee cost more than basic web hosting elsewhere?
Because it isn’t just hosting. Our Website Only plan is £25 a month after the setup fee, which can look like more than some bare-bones hosting services out there. That fee also covers the ongoing upkeep of your site: WordPress core updates, plugin updates, and the software and security patches a website needs to stay safe and working properly. Neglecting this maintenance can leave sites vulnerable to security problems, compatibility issues and things breaking without anyone noticing until there’s a problem.
How do I pay, and when?
You pay the one-off setup fee to get started, which covers building your site. Your first monthly payment is taken 30 days after your setup fee is paid, then on the same date each month after that, on a rolling basis. Payments are processed securely through our payment partner, Stripe. Direct debit may also be available, just ask us when you sign up. You can make or manage a payment any time through our Make a Payment (opens in a new tab) page.
Contracts & Cancelling
Am I tied into a contract?
No long-term contract on our standard plans. You’ll sign a simple service agreement to get started, but there’s nothing tying you in beyond that. Every standard plan is a rolling monthly payment, so you can cancel anytime with 30 days’ notice, with no exit fee. If you’re on a bespoke plan, minimum terms may apply, and these will be set out in your agreement. If you cancel and want to keep your website live, you’ll become responsible for any ongoing hosting, domain and third-party service costs needed to run it. We’ll explain those costs and help with the handover before your service ends. You can read the steps on our how to cancel (opens in a new tab) page.
What happens if I cancel?
Just give us 30 days’ notice by emailing admin@catchlio.co.uk. Your domain and content remain yours. If you want to keep using the Catchlio-built website, you’ll need to arrange suitable replacement hosting before your service ends. We’ll then licence the website to you for continued use and help with the handover. You’ll be responsible for future hosting, domain renewal and any third-party service costs. Our how to cancel (opens in a new tab) page has the full steps.
Do I get a refund for the rest of the month if I cancel partway through?
No. Your 30 days’ notice runs from when you tell us, and your service continues, and is paid for, until that notice period ends. We don’t give partial refunds for any unused part of a monthly billing period. Refunds of the setup fee are covered in the next question, and the full terms are in our Service Agreement (opens in a new tab).
Can I get my setup fee back if I cancel?
Only if you cancel before we’ve started work, in which case your setup fee is refunded. If work has already started, we charge £50 per hour for the time spent, take that off your setup fee and refund the difference. The charge never goes above the setup fee you paid. Monthly fees aren’t refunded for the unused part of a billing period. The full terms are in Section 4 of our Service Agreement (opens in a new tab).
Ownership
Who owns my listings and site?
The Google profile is in your name, and all your content, including text, photos and business details, belongs to you. The website itself is built and owned by Catchlio, and hosting and maintaining it forms part of your monthly package. If you decide to leave and arrange your own hosting before your service ends, we’ll licence the website to you so you can keep using it there. If you don’t arrange replacement hosting in time, the website stays with us and may be taken offline. If you’d rather we continue hosting it for you without the monthly updates, we can easily set up a simple hosting-only plan instead.
Do I own my domain?
Yes. Your domain belongs to you, not us. While you’re on one of our monthly plans, we look after it for you, including renewals and keeping it running properly. If you ever leave, we’ll advise you on moving your domain to a new supplier, so you’re never held to ransom over your own business name.
Is my site GDPR compliant, and do you handle cookie consent and a privacy policy?
Yes. Every site we build includes a compliant cookie banner and links to a privacy policy. You can see our own Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and Cookie Policy (opens in a new tab) as examples of what’s put in place for your site too.
Where do the photos on my website come from? Could I get a copyright complaint?
We use your own photos wherever possible, because real photos of your work build the most trust. Where we need extra images, we only use properly licensed or free-to-use photos, never pictures copied from Google, so you won’t face a copyright claim over images we’ve chosen.
Ongoing Support & Updates
What do you need from me each month?
Very little. Once everything is set up, we take care of the ongoing management. Just keep us updated with anything that changes, such as new services, areas covered, opening hours, photos or business information, and we’ll handle the rest. Ten minutes is a busy month.
What happens if I need to change my opening hours or add a new service later?
Just complete the simple Request a Change (opens in a new tab) form and let us know what’s changed. Changes can be submitted at any time, in line with your chosen plan’s allowance, and we’ll get it updated.
What counts as a website update?
Small changes such as updating text, swapping an image, changing opening hours, updating contact details or changing a link. If you want a new page, a redesign, new functionality or something that takes significantly longer, we’ll tell you first and give you a price. No surprise invoice afterwards.
What if I need something that isn’t included?
Ask us. If we can do it, we’ll tell you what it will cost before doing the work. If it needs a specialist we don’t provide, we’ll tell you that too. No pretending we can do everything just to win the job.
Can I upgrade later?
Absolutely. Start with what you actually need now. If your business grows or you decide you want more help later, you can move to another Catchlio package. We’d rather you upgrade because it’s useful than sell you things you don’t need on day one.
Can I downgrade later, not just upgrade?
Yes. If a plan turns out to be more than you need, just get in touch and we’ll move you to a plan that fits better, going forward from your next billing date.
What’s your response time?
We aim to respond to update requests and general queries within one working day. Most small changes are actioned well within your plan’s monthly allowance. You can submit a change anytime through our Request a Change (opens in a new tab) form, or contact us (opens in a new tab) directly.
Results & Fit
How soon will I see enquiries?
Every business is different, so we can’t promise a set number of enquiries or exactly when they’ll arrive. Our job is to make sure your business is easier to find, looks credible and gives potential customers a simple way to get in touch. Some businesses may see results quickly, while for others it can take time to build visibility and momentum.
Is this the same as an SEO agency?
No. We don’t run active SEO campaigns, content marketing, link building or paid ads. We focus on making sure your website, Google listing, business details and reviews are accurate and working properly every month. If you’re looking for ongoing competitive SEO work, that’s a different, and typically far more expensive, service, and we’ll tell you plainly if that’s what you actually need.
I’ve read that cheap plans rely on automated tools instead of real work, is that what you’re doing?
That warning is a fair one, but it’s aimed at services claiming to run a full SEO campaign, keyword strategy, content writing, link building, for an unrealistically low price. That scope of work genuinely can’t be done properly by a person for that little, so if you see it claimed that cheap, it’s worth asking questions. We don’t claim to do that. Our monthly service covers a specific, smaller job: your website, your Google listing, your business details and your reviews, kept accurate and working. That’s a job a real person on our team can do properly without needing a large team or expensive tools, which is exactly why we can price it low without cutting corners. If you ever want active SEO campaign work on top, we’ll say so honestly rather than quietly doing less than promised.
Why not just use an agency?
You absolutely can. Catchlio is simply a more straightforward option for smaller local businesses that don’t need the cost or complexity of a traditional agency. We focus on what actually matters, keep things simple and give you direct, personal support with a no-nonsense, no-bull approach. No jargon, no unnecessary extras, just practical help designed to get your business found and bring in more opportunities.
